Arrived by train…around 8am…on a Monday…morning time
with kids going to school, adults going to work, and older women gossiping and
talking about their plans for the day. Young kids speaking speaking Italian….using
their Italian hand gestures, and being teenagers making jokes while looking super
fashionable.
The women are also so expressive…Ciao bella,
belissimo, pronto, gratzi-Italian is expressive, loving, beautiful….
At first impression, I observe that these interactions
people have such strong adoration for one another and a very strong sense of
community. When people greet one another, it is really beautiful to witness
such sincerity, warmth, and authentic interactions.
Off the train, up the street, a left and a right and
I arrived pretty easily to my host’s house. An older residential building that
looked like it should have a doorman, but those do not really exist in Italy. The
only way to describe this neighborhood would be “Upper East side or Upper west side
of Manhattan.” Cute, bougie, upscale, fashion, money, Mercedes, and Priscilla.
It just so happened that his home was off of Via de
Priscilla, which is pronounced (PRISHIELLA)….a five minute walk away from the “Priscilla
Catacombs.” And near to the “Elvis winebar.”
I think it was confirmed that I was staying in the
right area for me and it was the start of some beautiful Spring weather coming my
way….everyday.. Blessed
