Spring Break or Holy Break?

When people ask, “What is your favorite time of year?” People usually respond with their birthday, New years, Christmas, Thanksgiving, or Easter. My favorite time of year is not just the one day- Easter.

It is the whole week starting with Palm Sunday, which is Holy Week aka Semana Santa. It is my goal to celebrate Holy week in different cities and countries around the globe.

This year I finally decided I would celebrate Holy week 2024 in Italy. Originally, I had planned to go to Sicily-Catania, Palermo, Ragusa, or Trapani. There are so many incredible traditional ceremonies that I spent so much time researching.

Unfortunately, life is what happens when you’re busy making other plans. I was still visiting the coastal cities and I was not ready to go on a whole Sicily adventure for just a few days. Sicily will hopefully happen at another time, but the main point is to emphasize, “Priscilla came to Italy for Holy week.”

I visited Positano about a week before the restaurants, bars, and everything would open.  It was not a priority for me as I found this trip to be a religious trip combined with visiting tourist attractions.

Being in Italy during Holy week was a check mark off the places I wanted to visit during this time. Hopefully I have many great destinations planned in the future because Holy week is “the most wonderful time of the year.” CIAO friends X PRIS
